Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Cables
The NEW VFD Supplement Catalog is Available from HWC. Download it NOW.
HWC is a master supplier of variable frequency drive (VFD) cabling. Also known as variable-speed or adjustable-speed drives, variable-frequency drive systems inherently expose their output cables to harsh operating conditions via high voltage spikes, amplified noise levels including electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, and challenging environmental conditions. Historically, continuously corrugated welded armor cable, single-conductor lead wire installed in conduit, or unshielded tray cables have been used as the known methods to route power from AC drive systems to AC motors. These old technology cables do not possess the advanced shielding, insulation compound & thickness, or grounding systems that have been specifically engineered to provide a proven solution for motor-to-drive connections.
A variety of constructions and voltages are available including 600V, 2KV, 2KV armored & sheathed, and 8KV and 15KV medium voltage armored & sheathed. Grounding systems are offered in full conductor size, 3 symmetrical bare, and 3 symmetrical insulated. Shielding options include copper tape shield, tinned copper braid + poly aluminum tape, and tinned copper armor + aluminum poly tape. Whether onshore or offshore, in a refinery or on a platform, HWC has the right VFD power cable for your application.
